Moving into Adulthood

At the Scottish Cochlear Implant Programme, we work closely with young people and their families to help them navigate the transition from children’s to adult services. This includes developing confidence in managing their implant, understanding changes in care, and building the skills needed to advocate for their own hearing needs.

Transition Assessment

As you prepare to leave school your Rehab Advisor will offer you a final transition assessment. At this appointment both your functional listening and language skills will be assessed. We will put your results, along with recommendations, into a report, which you may find useful for college or university, to ensure your learning needs are met.

Young Scottish Cochlear Implant Network

The Young Scottish Cochlear Implant Network is a community of young people aged 15–25 who bring their lived experience and leadership to the heart of our service. Together, they plan to influence policy at government level, educate on cochlear implants and highlight what matters most when moving into adulthood with a cochlear implant.

The current members of the Young Scottish Cochlear Implant Network introduce themselves in this video.
