Criteria

  • Candidacy criteria is based on NICE TA566 guidance
  • The British Cochlear Implant Group have produced this referral guide
  • It is important that candidates being referred for cochlear implant assessment are optimally aided.  The British Academy of Audiology has produced this 'Optimally Aided' document to support clinicians in setting hearing aids for adults with severe to profound hearing loss and when to refer for a cochlear implant.

Cochlear Implant Champions Scheme

Cochlear Implant Champions is a joint initiative between British Cochlear Implant Group and British Academy of Audiology.  The aim of the scheme is to ensure that all eligible adults and children, and their families, are well-informed about cochlear implants and are offered a timely referral.

CI Champions working within audiology departments collaborate with Audiologist mentors working within CI departments for peer support, training and audit.
