Today is Cochlear Implant Day

Cochlear implants aren’t a fix and they don’t take away deafness but for so many children and adults, they are a powerful tool. A tool for access. A tool for sound. A tool for choice.

For our family, cochlear implants are part of Cillian’s journey. They don’t define him, his personality, his strength, his determination and his beautiful little character do that all on their own. They are part of his story and we’re so grateful for the technology, the professionals, and the support that makes that possible.

Being a deaf parent journey (especially when you don’t expect it) can feel overwhelming at first. There’s appointments, decisions, emotions, and learning a whole new world. But there is also pride. There is resilience. There is community.

Today we celebrate:

• Deaf children and adults
• Cochlear implant users
• Families navigating this path
• Audiologists, surgeons and support teams
• And the incredible advancements that give access to sound

Most of all, I celebrate my little boy — who is perfect exactly as he is.
